“God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”  Hebrews 13:5-6 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

God’s goodness inclines Him to make us this promise and His faithfulness inclines Him to keep it.  Remember, every promise in Scripture is “Yes” and “Amen” in Christ Jesus. We can stand on His Word – it is True Truth. God will never fail the man or woman who puts their trust in Him. And He never breaks His Word – we can depend upon Him.  Further, He loves us too much to let us stay lost or the same. He is ever seeking to open our blind eyes and softening our hard hearts. And He often does this through our circumstances. We were never meant to stay the same. His desire is for us to be conformed into the image of His Son and He does this by degrees. He never intended for us to be overwhelmed rather overcomers as we follow after His Son. And He gives us the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit to do this great task. It is He that gives us the ability.  It is not found in our flesh no matter how hard we may try to muster it up. The key to living victoriously is to know that you can through His power and for His glory and for our good.
The life of faith is a confident life as its fortifications are secure. Once we are His, we are always His. Jesus tells us in John 10:27-30: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” Jesus will never forsake His own. It is not our grip on Him rather His on us. He is our stable Rock amid the billows and winds of these turbulent seas of life. We are to place our affections upon Him rather than the moth-eaten decaying treasures of our earthly trinkets. Setting our hearts on the One Who remains forever faithful to us. He is our Rock upon which our hopes are firmly placed. There is no attribute of God that will cease to be engaged for us. There is no blessing to lofty for us or mercy too extensive for the child of the King. Be bold to believe that He will never leave us or forsake us as no attribute of God will cease to be engaged on behalf of the believer. He will always show Himself strong for those who love Him. He will be their sufficiency and strength throughout their pilgrimage home. We can trust Him with our lives and the lives of all those we hold dear.  Stand upon His promises and rest in His faithfulness. His children can boldly face the darkest future. The beloved of the Lord can rest secure in Him.
