“How can a young man keep his way pure?  By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, O LORD; teach me your decrees.  With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.” Psalms 119:9-16 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

We can never exhaust learning from God’s Word. It is alive and active and sharper than any two-edged sword and it teaches us something new each time we read it. It matters not if you have even memorized the section you are reading, it will continue to speak other Truth’s to your hearts. As we master one thing, He is teaching us, He goes further still. It is simply the most amazingly wonderful gift and we neglect it to our own harm.
Scripture is the way the believer grows up in Jesus. And its words are to be our very lifeblood.  Each time we open it we are to go with the expectation that God is speaking directly to us and for us - encouraging, exhorting, awakening, thrilling, and loving us as long as we live. The anticipation that God is meeting with us is likened to a child waiting to receive a longed-for gift.  We are to pray each time before we read God’s Word that He would open our eyes so that we might see wonderful Truth’s in His Law. It is God’s desire for us to study, apply and live its teachings so that we will be a changed people looking more and more like our older brother, Jesus. Our lives are to affect our spheres of influence through both our words and actions.  Leaving the aroma of Christ and not the stench of death in our encounters. God wants this for all His children - not simply a select few. This is how the Gospel passes on from generation to generation. We can preach Truth but we must live it to change the world for Christ. When people walked as Jesus walked, they are wooingly irresistible and those in their spheres wanted what they had – and that was Jesus.
Humbly approach God’s Word that He will teach you what He desires for you to be taught today. He promises daily manna from heaven for our spiritual nourishment, enjoyment and strength as well as wisdom to help others. Consider that He had us in mind when He sent forth His Word and it always brings healing.
