The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. Psalms 19:7-8 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

God’s Word is alive and active. It is always fresh and pertinent for the times and for the need. It is our Source for all Truth being inexhaustible in its wisdom. “Every Word of God is flawless”, Scripture tells us in Proverbs 30:5. Each time we read it – no matter how many times before we have – it speaks to our hearts in differing ways. Indeed, God tells us through the writings of Moses that His Word is to be our very life – they are not to be merely idle words for us. We neglect Scripture at our own peril. Apathy of God’s Word will indeed atrophy the soul. It is our instruction guide for all of life and its contents revive our weary hearts and sin sick souls. When we know the Truth the Truth will set us free.
Not one of us is perfect. We all deal with sin. Scripture teaches us how to be more and more conformed into the image of Christ, keeping us from sinning and bestowing on us a peace that passes all human understanding. The results of sin will never fully satisfy. Sin always carries with it a death to something. If we follow out sin to the end, most of us do not want the consequences that will most assuredly result – just as sparks fly upward. We are to approach God’s Word with great anticipation that it will be life changing – because it is. It is both alive and active - sharper than any double edge sword – penetrating even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow and judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart, the writer of Hebrews tells us.
Truth is not subjective – God’s Word is true Truth. It never changes. It is the standard by which we measure all other so-called truths. Whatever God has said is true – you can count on it. And He does not change like shifting shadows. Unlike the winds of opinions blowing through our lands based solely on the whims and ways of those espousing them, God’s Word never changes and is more permanent than fleeting mountain rock. Indeed, mountains may pass away but God’s Word will never pass away.

Heart Savor

The Lion Roars

The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Psalms 19:9-11 (NIV)

  • We are never to be lacking in zeal but keep our spiritual fervor serving the Lord.
  • We are to be zealous for the Lord’s great Name – through His power for His glory.
  • Create in me a pure heart and a steadfast spirit Oh Lord.
