Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Psalms 37:5-6 (NIV)
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, Selah that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you. Psalms 67:1-3 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

Believers on this dusty earth are meant to point others to our Savior. We are to shine His light through the power of the Holy Spirit pointing others to Him and not to us. When our fleshly clay pots are cracked through harm or hurt, disease or devastation, His bright light shines through each crack – making us even brighter vessels - pointing others to the Savior. We can’t do this in the flesh (obviously) as there is nothing good within us. Jesus said so plainly, “No one is good – except God alone.” You can’t get blood out of a turnip, neither can you get Living Water out of a dead soul or the Light of Life out of darkness. This is why it is so important for believers in sweet Jesus to let His light within them shine brightly - pointing others to the Savior. It matters. As we commit our ways and trust in Him He makes our righteousness shine like the stars in the universe as we hold out the Word of Life for others to be blessed as well.
Living like Jesus is other worldly in its nature and again only made possible through the power of the Spirit. The world takes note. That is what God had planned. He uses us, as weak and cracked as we are, to point others to Him showing them how to live and walk in a manner worthy of the Gospel. It is when Christians cease to live like Christians and begin to blend with the world that it brings disgrace to God’s great Name causing many others to stumble. We are not islands and how we live makes a difference as it greatly affects our spheres of influence. And we all have one.
Remember, all the “glory” of man fades like flowers of the field yet those things done through His power will last throughout eternity. Do not be afraid to shine brightly for the Master. It was what you were created for and we will never outgive Him. With Him is the great adventure that all hearts long for whether they realize it or not.

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)

  • We are never to be lacking in zeal but keep our spiritual fervor serving the Lord.
  • We are to be zealous for the Lord’s great Name – through His power for His glory.
  • Create in me a pure heart and a steadfast spirit Oh Lord.
