Call On Him: When You Are Out Of Mountains And You Are In Too Deep

The Lion Loosed

I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. Psalms 18:1-6 (NIV)

The Lesson Learned

Our light can remain dim as we walk in the valley of the shadow, Amen? We have no idea which way to go. Lonely, fearful and anxious, we have nothing left to lose and we have nothing left to win. Our last dream is spent and we scratch our heads wondering where in the world our faith went. Call Him. Call on His Name. He is a mere breath away. He is our Helper. Indeed, He seems to incline His holy ears to the “breath prayers” for help from His saints – and all believers in Jesus are saints. The Savior is quick to rush to the aid of the child of the King in great distress. His strong Hand of mercy hastily reaches to come to our aid – comforting, consoling and lighting the way. He is always there for those in darkness who call out His Name. He is our Helper. The power of God stands at the ready – if you will – for every heir of mercy. Our obedience and comfort become strong or weak according to our faith in this truth. Remember, our God is a wonderworking God. And He remains a breath away.
Jesus is a Friend that sticks closer than a brother. If He does not save us out of the trial, He saves us through it - getting us safely to the other side. We can trust Him. We can always trust Him. He reaches His mighty Hand down from on high and takes hold of us – drawing us out of the deep waters of our circumstances by either literally removing us from them or changing our hearts within them. The latter being the far greater miracle in my opinion. To see a saint rejoicing in the Lord in dire circumstances (not rejoicing in the circumstances rather in the Lord) is a great testimony as it is so unearthly in its nature. When we are in situations not of our choosing and even far beyond our abilities to endure, it remains His desire for us to rise above them by taking us through them on eagle’s wings. He is always near to the child in the fire – His power engaged for our assistance. He will carry us through the circumstance He has allowed us to walk through and to bring forth the good work it intended. Because of the promise of Romans 8:28, we can rest in knowing that all things allowed are working for our ultimate good and His glory never one surpassing the other. He will carry you through…all you have to do is call.

Heart Savor

The Lion Roars

He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. Psalms 18:16-18 (NIV)

  • We are never to be lacking in zeal but keep our spiritual fervor serving the Lord.
  • We are to be zealous for the Lord’s great Name – through His power for His glory.
  • Create in me a pure heart and a steadfast spirit Oh Lord.
